Los Angeles Brand Videography: 4 Places to Find Assets for a Promo Video

One of the biggest excuses I hear business owners tell me about putting together a promo video using their assets is this: "But I don't have any visuals. I have nothing we could use for a reel. I don't take any video."

Before I tell them to frolic off and shoot some shots, there are three spots I have them check first.

Your cell phone camera roll.

Take an afternoon or evening to go through the pictures and videos on your phone. Do a digital deep clean and you’ll find there is often more there than you expect. And remember, family photos, vacation pics and imagery you took just because you thought it was pretty could be part of your story. Don’t toss it just yet.

Download ALL your content from Instagram.

We’ve all heard the anthem of not building our business on rented land, so making sure you have all of it isn’t just a tool to find assets for your business. It’s a good idea in general to save everything every once in a while to make sure all those beautifully written captions and content don’t go down with the ship in case it sinks one day. You can find out how at this blog post or watch the video below!

Old family photos and videos.

While I don’t expect everyone to have a digital library of all these assets, taking photos or video of them from your phone can absolutely suffice for quick clip or two. Have any memories that come to mind when you think of your brand story? Grab them! Still need some guidance? Book a free mini-brand audit call with me to get those creative juices flowing and business strategy going.

Reach out to past clients for video testimonials.

Use this as an opportunity to reach out to past clients to request a video testimonial. Have them speak about how your product or service made them FEEL, how it made their life easier, what their return on investment was after working with you, etc. Anything that can be a testament to your business can make a perfect addition to your promo.
